Life is filled with challenges, but it’s not the challenges that define us, it’s how we respond to them that truly make us into the people we are. In the immortal words of Rocky, “It ain’t about how hard you can hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.” There is nothing more impressive than seeing someone rise above their circumstance to do something great.
Alexey Romanov knows this better than anyone. Alexey was born without hands, but he hasn’t let that stop him from being great and accomplishing his dreams. From a young age, he wanted to be a piano player, a seemingly impossible task for someone without any fingers – but “impossible” isn’t a word that Alexey knows much about. So he practiced, and practiced some more, until he became not just a piano player, but a child prodigy that regularly performed in front of crowds.
Now, the 15-year-old Russian teenager is enjoying worldwide fame after a video of him playing the piano at a recital went viral. In the video below, Alexey performs the theme from Twilight and nails all the complex moves it takes to play. If you just heard Alexey play, you would have no idea of the physical disability that he suffers; but watching him play gives his performance another layer of meaning.
