When Hunter S. Thompson And His Neighbor Disagreed, Things Got Deadly

Anyone who’s ever read “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” is familiar with Hunter S. Thompson. Thompson was one of the most influential writers and journalists of the 20th century, and his work has impacted thousands over the years.

The author was known for his love of guns, drugs, and violence, which is why scenes like the one below of Thompson and his neighbor exchanging gunfire over a dispute are jarring, but not totally unexpected.

When he died in 2005, in accordance with his wishes, he was cremated. His ashes were fired out of a cannon during a ceremony that was funded by Depp, and everyone from John Kerry to Jack Nicholson attended.
